verses gathered from his talks, books, and magazine articles.

Abul Hasan Ali al-Nadwi (may Allah be pleased with him) was born in
1914 in India. He was one of the most famous Islamic scholars of our
time. He was prolific writer and a great orator in both the Arabic and
Urdu languages. He wrote numerous books on a variety of Islamic themes.
Many of these have been translated into English, Hindi, Turkish, and
Malay languages. His most famous written works are: Saviours of Islamic Spirit,
Islam and the World, the Life of Sayyid Ahmed Shahid, Stories of the
Prophets, the Mercy of the Worlds, and various other set works and
booklets. The learned scholar passed away on 22 Ramadan, 1420 A.H.
corresponding to December 31, 1999.

1. Member of the Consultative Assembly of the Islamic University of Medina. 2. Member of the Assembly of Islamic Universities (Rabat, Morocco). 3. Conferred with the King Faisal Award for his services to Islam in 1980. 4. Conferred with an Honary Doctorate in Literature, Kashmir University in 1981. 5. Appointed as Chairman of the Center of Islamic Studies, Oxford University in 1983. 6. Appointed as Chairman of the World Assembly of the Islamic Literature in 1984. 7. Appointed as the Head of the Muslim Personal Law Board in 1985. 8. Awarded a prize for being the Best Islamic Personality for the year of 1998. 9. Conferred with the Sultan Brunei Award by the Oxford Center for Islamic Studies.
